Throughout the year students will be studying US History through the lens of videos. Students will be watching various videos relevant to the particular time period of US History to gain a better understanding of the content and concepts being covered. After watching different films students will have a point of reference to help provide connections.
Qtr. 1: Growth of America
Qtr. 1 will focus on the growth of America as a Nation. Students will be able to analyze the early steps taken by the revolutionaries and the impact the Revolutionary War had on the formation of the American Political System. Students will also evaluate the growth of America during the reconstruction after the civil war through the expansion of the west. Films to be analyzed will be identified on the class calendar.
Qtr. 3: America during WWII
Qtr. 2 will focus on the events prior to and encompassing America's involvement in WWII. Students will be able to evaluate the impact of the Great Depression and the steps America took to rise up out of that depression. Students will also identify the events that brought America into WWII and the impacts these events had on the American people. Students will finally evaluate how WWII enabled to become one of the strongest nations in the world. Films to be analyzed will be identified on the class calendar.
Qtr. 2: The Emerging America as a World Power
Qtr. 2 will focus the emergence of America as a World Power. Students will be able to evaluate the events that led to America's growing economic sector. Students will also be able to analyze the impact that the growing economic sector had on the political, social, and cultural sectors of the American society. Films to be analyzed will be identified on the class calendar.
Qtr. 4: Contemporary America
Qtr. 4 will focus on the events covering the time from 1950-2016. Students will be able to analyze the changing of social and cultural norms in America and the impact it had on different groups in America. Students will also be able to evaluate the role of America in the world arena and the impact American politics, culture, and economic position has on other countries. Students will finally analyze and evaluate the future of America based on the history that was analyze in the previous quarters. Films to be analyzed will be identified on the class calendar.
